July 31: Restful in Régusse

Big sleep-in this morning; boys didn’t stir until almost noon. Faith was up earlier, motivated to get into the swimming pool, and got me and Beth to join in her enthusiasm. Lots of laughs in the water throughout the day.

Beth and I headed out around noon to fetch some groceries for the day, and good thing we did! On Sundays in this rural town, businesses are open only in the morning, and close by 1 o’clock! Even the pharmacy, which always seems to be open with its gaudy green neon light cross sign, was closed.

The grocery store was full of locals getting last minute groceries before store closing. Our host also pointed out Régusse has a farmers/artisan market on Sundays; we arrived as things were shutting down, but just in time to get a bit of fruit and patisserie (a twisty puff pastry stick called a sacristain). Our purchases made for lovely meals today at the backyard poolside dining table.
The afternoon was spent in self-directed activity. Playing darts. Watching a Pixar movie. Updating the blog. Booking train tickets & Paris hotel. Taking a nap. Drawing. Swimming. Sunbathing. Reading. Otherwise not much to report - a very restful day!
We finished the last book in the Lily series tonight. Great reminder that each one of us is on a pilgrimage with God, that He is always present and reveals Himself in the details of life.
